Build your alarm package

Three parts of a connected alarm setup

Keeping tools in a work van and traveling with a camper create different priorities. You may want an alarm that responds to a door opening, a notification while you are away from the van, or convenient entry without reaching for the key. These functions come from different parts of the system.

The configuration discussed here brings together a Sprinter-specific plug-and-play alarm kit, a Drone X2-LTE module and a Firstech keyless touchpad. It is useful to decide which functions matter to you before choosing the final installation.

For a work van, a phone notification can help you notice an alarm event while you are away from the parking area. For a camper, PIN entry offers another way to get back into the van when your hands are full. Tracking adds location information when the selected equipment and service support it.

The vehicle alarm

The alarm controller, siren, interface and fitted sensors provide local protection and connect supported vehicle signals to the system.

DroneMobile

The X2-LTE adds a cellular connection. App commands, notifications and tracking depend on compatible hardware, coverage and an active service plan.

Firstech touchpad

A compatible keypad lets you use a PIN for locking and unlocking. It adds convenient access alongside the configured alarm controls.

The alarm itself

What the alarm can monitor

A vehicle-specific interface lets a compatible aftermarket alarm work with supported Sprinter signals and factory-key commands. The Mid City Engineering 907INTK listing describes a package with a siren and a multi-function sensor. The exact kit revision and functions need to be confirmed for your van.

Protection and control features to confirm in your package
FeatureWhat it adds
Factory-key controlArm and disarm a compatible alarm with the original key fob, without making a second remote your only way to use it.
Door and hood inputsRespond to supported openings while the system is armed. Added camper doors or storage compartments may need separate integration.
Audible alarmA connected siren provides a local warning when the configured alarm is triggered.
Impact and glass-break sensingThese functions depend on the installed sensor and its setup; they are not established simply by fitting a siren.
Tilt and tow sensingA suitable fitted sensor can add detection of relevant movement or angle changes. Confirm the sensor functions and settings at handover.

Ask which triggers will be demonstrated after installation. An audible response at the van and a notification on your phone are different parts of the experience; both should be explained for the equipment you select.

Drone X2-LTE

What smartphone control and GPS add

The Drone X2-LTE connects a compatible security system to the DroneMobile app over a cellular network. This can provide supported commands such as lock/unlock and arm/disarm, together with alarm notifications. You do not have to be within the factory key fob’s radio range, but the cellular connection and service plan still matter.

GPS location and the more detailed tracking tools are subscription features. Choose them according to how you use the van: occasional location checks, a boundary around a parking area, or a history of vehicle movement.

Choose app functions by plan and supported equipment
App featureWhat to confirm
Control & security alertsA compatible alarm connection, active service and coverage. Only connected, supported events can be reported.
GPS locationA plan that includes tracking. The presence of GPS hardware does not mean every subscription includes location features.
Geofences, activity & historyAvailable tools, history and update frequency vary by plan and hardware. Select what you actually need.

Review the current DroneMobile subscription options before activation. Hardware, installation and recurring service are separate costs. Coverage and connectivity can affect commands and alerts, so the app should not be treated as a guaranteed response service.

Firstech keyless entry

PIN-code access to your Sprinter

The Firstech KP2 adds a seven-digit touchpad for compatible systems, with lock/arm and unlock/disarm functions. It gives you another way to access the van using your code.

Unlocking a door is not permission to start the engine. The vehicle’s key and immobilizer requirements remain separate. Keep your access code private and discuss the operating routine that suits your van.

Options to discuss

Features to request separately

Build the package around the functions you want to use. These additions should be discussed rather than assumed from the presence of an app or keypad:

  • Additional remotes: a compatible RF remote or two-way remote setup, if you want another control method.
  • Extra protected openings: ask about added camper doors, external storage or other areas not already covered by supported vehicle inputs.
  • Remote engine start: this needs suitable remote-start equipment and vehicle compatibility. The alarm kit and X2-LTE do not establish that it is installed.
  • Guest-code access: confirm the required KeyLocker and compatible configuration before planning around it.
  • Camera recording: X2-LTE is not a dash camera. Video needs separate suitable camera hardware and service options.

Plan your installation

Choose the setup for your van

The kit discussed here is intended for the W907 application. Send the model year and VIN so the correct interface and current compatibility can be checked. An older Sprinter, a different controller or a modified camper installation should not be treated as the same configuration.

Tell us whether your priority is a local alarm, phone access, tracking or a keypad. For a camper, include any additional doors and how you use the van when parked. This helps define the coverage and the controls you want.

What plug-and-play means

A vehicle-specific interface simplifies integration with supported Sprinter signals. Fitting the hardware, configuring the selected functions and checking the controls remain part of the installation. The term does not identify every accessory or service included in a quote.

Your alarm installation checklist

  • Sprinter model year and VIN
  • Existing alarm, remote-start system or conversion equipment
  • The doors and compartments you want covered
  • Factory-key, phone, GPS and keypad functions you want
  • Any equipment you already own and its model information

What to clarify before approving the work

Request a quote that distinguishes equipment, fitting, any extra sensors or interfaces, and ongoing app service. At handover, ask for a demonstration of the agreed triggers, key and keypad operation, and the app functions on the activated plan. No alarm can guarantee that theft or damage will never occur.

Common questions

Sprinter alarm installation questions

Can I use the original Sprinter key to control the alarm?

A compatible W907 interface can support factory-key arming and disarming. Confirm the exact interface, vehicle and installed controls before assuming that a particular kit will work with your van.

Does DroneMobile need a subscription?

Yes. DroneMobile’s cellular functions require active service. The selected plan determines available control and tracking tools; GPS functions are not included in every plan.

Does this package include remote engine start?

Do not assume so. Remote start is separate from alarm operation and requires compatible remote-start hardware and vehicle integration. Ask for it to be specified in the proposed installation if you want that function.

Will the keypad let me drive without the vehicle key?

The keypad provides supported access and alarm commands. It does not by itself replace the vehicle key or authorize engine starting.

What happens if cellular coverage is unavailable?

Remote app functions depend on connectivity. A functioning local alarm and its configured key or keypad controls are distinct from the LTE service; ask us to explain which controls remain available for your specific installation.

How much does Sprinter alarm installation cost?

The total depends on the van, chosen hardware, added sensors, installation work and service plan. Contact Sprinter Van Solutions for a quote covering your requested functions. A component price is not an installed price.
